After spending some time updating a client’s site, I became painfully aware of some of the shortcomings of this site, so I’ve done a little bit of tweaking on the website just to freshen things up a little and to tidy up some of the CSS. All still within the excellent Wordpress!

It is now possible to use In-App Purchase within free apps to sell content, subscriptions, and digital services on the iPhone.
This is great news as it means we can simplify development by creating a single version of an iPhone app that uses In App Purchase to unlock additional functionality, eliminating the need to create Lite versions of apps.
Using In-App Purchase in apps can also help combat some of the problems of software piracy by allowing verification of In App Purchases.
Some good Q&A…

Adobe Systems has come up with a way to let developers write Flash applications for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch devices, even without the support of Apple.

I’ve just finished reading an excellent book, “Let My People Go Surfing”, by the founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard.
Part memoir, part manifesto — legendary climber, businessman and environmentalist Yvon Chouinard, founder and owner of Patagonia®, Inc. describes his life and his start in business as an itinerant climber selling pitons from the back of his car. Let My People Go Surfing: The Education of a Reluctant Businessman offers a look at the guiding principles that Chouinard used to build Patagonia® into a global business — a business that has an environmental mission and is a fun place to work.
Highly recommended, and well worth a read!

Here’s a great post by Joe Hewitt, the Facebook iPhone developer, arguing that the approval process on the App Store is not scalable (Apple has 40 or so full-time reviewers (according to the the FCC docs)). Hewitt built the original web version of the Facebook app for the iPhone in a time when there were no other native third party apps.
